Pradeep is `Strongman’, Mandakini `Strongwoman’

Pradeep Kumar Patra of Khurda and Mandakini Mahanta of Mayurbhanj lifted the `Strongmen` and `Strongwoman` titles respectively in the 24th State Powerlifting Championship at Upendra Bhanja Institute in Mancheswar today.

Khurda won the team title with 557 points, while Bolangir finished runners-up with 412 points. Neelakantha Pradhan established a new record, lifting 175kg in the 105kg open benchpress category. Altogether 260 powerlifters from 16 districts participated in the three-day championship, which was organised by Odisha Powerlifting Association, in collaboration with Madan Mohan Charitable Trust.
